The Japan emperor’s main residence is called as “the imperial Palace of Japan”. The total area belongs to this great palace is around 3.5 square kilometers. This area is filled with various types of buildings including the main palace and other private resident palaces of the imperial family.
The emperors of Japan started to use this place as their residence place since 1868 and they used to identify this palace in different names in time to time. Like Tokyo Castle, imperial castle, imperial palace. Due to a heavy fire occurred in 1873 and most of the historical buildings were damaged. Anyhow they started reconstruction on 1888 and most of the old buildings were replaced by new buildings.
As example previously there were two wooden bridges and on the reconstruction they were replaced with iron & stone bridges. And the architecture also has different from the traditional Japanese architecture. After World War II, the palace was rebuilt and the constructions were completed on 1968.The constructors were succeeded to give its traditional look back to this great historical palace. On this new complex m there are several wings;
- Function Hall
- Banquet Hall
- Reception Hall
- Dining Room
- Drawing Room
- Emperor’s work office
In addition to this, the surrounding gardens of the palace have made the palace a great pride. If you enter to these gardens, you will feel the sound of nature. And feel the change of climate. The wind coming through these gardens are really pleasant and slightly cold, and they really charming our minds always.
